Daal glossary
Red - masoor daal
Smallest yellow - moong daal
Medium yellow - toor daal
ingredients
1.5 cups basmati rice
1/2 white onion
1 small tomato
veal
eyeball half-cup daal (mixed masoor, moong, toor)
1 packet of Shan daal masala
steps
Boil the cut veal in one pot, and daal in another
In a pan, heat up some oil
Fry the onions until golden brown, about 10 - 15 mins
Put in the diced tomatoes
Add in the Shan masala packet with some water (or the broth from boiling the veal)
Let it cook for a while
Add in the meat and let that cook for a few minutes until meat is cooked
Add in the daal and keep stirring and adding water or broth every now and then
Cook the rice
Keep stirring the daal until desired consistency is reached
